Recognise intentional terrain

Natural caves are irregular. Artifact routes often introduce symmetry, a clean chamber boundary, an arrow, an unusual material arrangement or one conspicuous obstacle.

When the terrain begins to look authored, stop mining randomly. The room is already presenting its interaction model. Ask what changed visually and which unlocked tool acts on it.

Tool-gated entrances

A blocked entrance is rarely asking for brute force with every weapon. Test the material relationship you already know: fire for a burnable seal, cold for Lava, excavation for weak terrain, or a light source for a dark route.

If none of the current tools affect the deliberate obstacle, leave the room marked and return after the next meaningful research unlock. Tool gating is a progression signal, not evidence that the room is broken.

Locked room materials

Some Artifact chambers restrict building, extraction or material movement. Snow and Water inside the room may be puzzle components rather than resources you can carry home. Solve the interaction in place and do not budget the chamber as a supply deposit.

Claim and exit

Artifact recovery can advance augment progress and grant a skill. Interact with the reward until the collection state is unambiguous, then retrace the safe route.

The correct question is not “where is the Artifact?” but “what material relationship is this room teaching?”
